Greetings from Yemen !

It’s hard to believe that I’ve been away for over five years, pursuing my PhD in Taiwan. The memories of home remain close to my heart, especially during these challenging times.

When I departed, Yemen was already engulfed in war, and sadly, the situation has only deteriorated. It pains me to witness the struggles people face, and the hope for peace feels increasingly distant. However, my recent visit was filled with joy as I reunited with my wife, kids, whole family, friends, and neighbors. Meeting my grandson for the first time was a heartwarming experience, and I cherish every moment spent with my children.

Despite the challenges that persist, the warmth and kindness of the people here made my trip truly worthwhile. It’s inspiring to see how deeply people care for the suffering of others, such as those in Gaza, and their willingness to share what little they have, even though their suffering is rarely seen abroad.

It’s summer in Yemen now, and the rainy season has arrived. Most people here embrace the rainy weather, unlike many in Europe. The monsoon rains bring a refreshing change, cooling the air and providing much-needed nourishment for our agricultural society. It serves as a reminder of the land’s enduring beauty and renewal.

I hold on to hope for a brighter future, believing that peace will one day return to Yemen and blossom across the world.
